Mr. Kitata Makau, a PhD student in the Department of Literature successfully defended his thesis on 24th September, 2014. Title: Rhetorical Strategies in the Novels of Chinua Achebe.

Upon effecting the few corrections highlighted by the Faculty Board of Examiners, Mr. Kitata, a Part-time Lecturer in the Department of Literature is expected to graduate in December 2014.

Prof. Peter Wasamba, the Associate Dean, Faculty of Arts met first year students, who joined Kisumu Campus in September on 22nd September, 2014.

The Associate Dean welcomed the new students to Kisumu Campus and briefed them on the structure of the programme. The students were also taken through the rules and regulations governing the registration of units.

The University of Nairobi (UoN) and the Royal Dutch Kentalis International have launched the Deaf Role Models Africa film.

The moving film portrays eight successful deaf role models who have gone against great odds to be where they are today.  The role models tell their story, difficulties, and aspirations. In the film, the role models are not speaking for themselves, but for other deaf persons too that given the opportunity and quality teaching and services, deaf persons can succeed in life.

University of Nairobi was privileged to host seven students form Soka University located in Tokyo, Hachioji in Japan. It has been in partnership with the University of Nairobi for more than 24 years and has seen students from both universities take part in exchange programs annually. These students were hosted by the department of literature in the faculty of arts and facilitated by student leaders from SONU, NUARSA and LSA.
