The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies initiated a Memorandum of Understanding between Shah Ranmal Raja Charitable Trust, Kenya and the University of Nairobi for twelve (12) annual scholarships to needy and bright students in geography and environmental studies. The official launch of the “Raja Trust Scholarships” took place on Tuesday 13th August, 2013 at the University of Nairobi.
The ceremony was presided over by the Principal, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. EnosNjeru – on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor. The ceremony, which took place at the Principal’s office, was attended by members from Raja Trust (Mrs. Smita Shah, Mrs. Anjna Shah & Mr.Coutinho); the Deputy Principal (Prof. P.O. K’Obonyo); the Acting Dean, Faculty of Arts (Dr. E.W. Wahome); the Chairman and members of the Department of Geography & Environmental Studies (Dr. S.O. Owuor, Prof. G.O. Krhoda, Dr. S.M. Mukhovi& Ms. P. Shah). All the speakers thanked Raja Trust for their generosity, kind gesture and philanthropic activities of giving back to the society. According to Prof. Njeru, the scholarships will go a long way in helping the “Raja Trust Scholars” achieve their academic dreams, as well as in the long-run, helping their communities.Thank you Smita&Anjna for your kindness!
