The School of Law is holding a capacity building workshop for Kenyan and Ugandan Lawyers on protecting the environment and biodiversity in upstream mining, oil and gas.

Centre for Advanced Studies in environmental Law and Policy (CASELAP)’s former Director Prof. Nicholas Oguge is leading the fight against plastics waste in the country and beyond.  

Through Governing Plastics Network which he chairs, Prof. Oguge explores all aspects of plastic use, from the composition of plastics that are imported across Africa to the slum communities who make a livelihood from selling and cleaning discarded plastics.

 As the University of Nairobi gears up to celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Institute of Anthropology, Gender and African Studies (IAGAS) will also be celebrating 50 years since inception.

“IAGAS is as old as the university.” Said Prof. Onyango Ouma, the current director of the institute.
